“It is time for a revolution in medical education… this facility will transform the way we train our physicians, caregivers, and first responders.”

—Dr. John Vozenilek, Director of Simulation and Chief Medical Officer

World-class medical simulation reproduces events so convincingly that learners respond as if the situations were real. Because of the value that level of realism provides, the OSF Healthcare System set out to build a state-of-the-art simulation, education, and conference center on their Peoria campus to serve several user groups.

SmithGroupJJR designed the facility to be sympathetic to the existing campus architecture in terms of material palette and building scale. The greater achievement is creating a home for vital educational experience for nursing and medical students alike. Realistic clinical spaces and cutting-edge technologies including advanced high-fidelity mannequins deliver precise simulation exercises, making the facility a symbol of the commitment to improving the quality of care throughout the OSF Healthcare System.

The Jump Trading Simulation and Education Center is built like a stage set—incorporating sophisticated A/V technology for recording simulations—yet operates like a hospital and functions like a classroom. In addition to the conference center and classrooms, the project includes a lab dedicated to R&D for new simulation methods and technologies.
