With the spirit of an urban residential community, Taylor Place is not only the first urban high-rise residence hall in Arizona. It also serves as the anchor of student life for the emerging downtown campus of Arizona State University.

The two-tower, mixed-use facility features all the essentials of campus life, including stores, a dining hall, and a centrally located fitness center. Like a downtown, these amenities are all linked through abundant spaces for collaboration and interaction spaces on each level of the towers. Adding another level of interaction, the interiors feature Internet-enabled DigiBoards for posting student announcements, activities, photos and streaming video. With 1,200-plus beds, the complex has emerged as more than a favored gathering place for students. Its density and engaging urbanism has had a significant impact on Phoenix's central core.

Speed to market was essential to success in developing Taylor Place in a short, 20-month window from concept to occupancy. Yet it was the design's creative application of innovative student services that made it highly marketable.
